Cameron graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2024. During his final year research project he worked under the supervision of Professor Oren Scherman, investigating the use of quantum dots as energy transfer (EnT) photocatalysts for the [2+2] cycloadditon of alkenes in water. In 2024 Cameron begun his PhD at the University of Bristol as part of the TECS CDT. After his first year training he joined the group to undertake deep mechanistic studies to drive methology development.
Harvey graduated from the University of Southampton in 2025. For their final year of study, Harvey undertook an industrial placement at Vertex, Oxfordshire, under the supervision of Dr Timothy Kwok. During this time they employed HTE and machine learning to help develop a metallaphotoredox deoxygenative C(sp2)-C(sp3) cross-coupling methodology. Following his training year he joined the group to explore non-canonical effects in synthetically relevant systems, both experimentally and computationally, with the aid of machine learning.
Cameron completed his MChem degree at the University of Bath in 2021, where he carried out his final-year research project with Prof. Michael Whittlesey, exploring the synthesis, characterisation, and reactivity of novel ruthenium-zinc heterobimetallic complexes. After graduating, he spent over three years at CatSci Ltd in Cardiff as a Process R&D Chemist, gaining experience in small-molecule process development. In 2024, Cameron joined the TECS CDT at the University of Bristol and has since joined the Noble group to develop photoredox methodology, working with the Tilby Lab in computation.
Matt completed his MSci degree in Chemistry with Study Abroad at the University of Bristol, during his masters project he worked on water-soluble oligothiourea foldamers with Prof. Jonathan Clayden. In 2026 he joined the Lennox lab via the TECS CDT to develop new hypervalent iodine catalysts. He is co-supervised by Dr Michael Tilby and Prof. Jonathan Clayden.
Dylan graduated from the University of Bristol in 2026. During his final-year project, he worked under the supervision of Professor Alastair Lennox. He investigated the reactivity of DABCO with various fluoro-vinyl iodonium salts to generate novel DABCOnium salts to use in monofluoroalkene synthesis. In 2026, he is starting his PhD under the supervision of Professor Liam Ball, with co-supervision from Dr Michael Tilby, to develop a library of -CF₃ isosteres to install onto a broad range of complex crop protection chemicals.
Vanessa is from South Wales and is in her 4th year of her integrated MSci at the University of Bristol. Her research interests include synthetic chemistry and the use of computational approaches to support chemical research. Outside of her studies, Vanessa enjoys crocheting and learning new languages.
Catalina is from Santiago, Chile and is currently in her final year of her MSci at the University of Bristol. She is interested in researching within synthetic chemistry and using techniques such as computational chemistry. Outside of her studies, Catalina is a stage technician for theatre and event productions.
