Opportunities

The Tilby Lab provides broad skills in conducting interdisciplinary research applied to the field of synthesis and catalysis. Therefore we encourage potential postdocs, PhDs, visting researchers, and undergraduates, from all backgrounds, to get in contact with Michael (michael.tilby@bristol.ac.uk). We also suggest sending an e-mail if you want to know more about what we do or are interested in establishing a collaboration.

PhD Students

PhD students in the Tilby Lab are supported to recieve comprehensive training in various disciplines by being provided with direct expertise in synthesis, computational chemistry and machine learning. Within the field of synthesis and catalysis students are encouraged to tailor projects to their own individual interests.

We are involved in the Technology Enhanced Chemical Synthesis Centre for Doctoral Training at the University of Bristol:

We will also assist in selected students obtaining funding that they may be eligible for (more information), and we suggest you initially get in contact:

Future PhD positions will be advertised when available.

Postdoctoral Researchers

As our group is at the intersection of multiple disciplines, we encourage postdoctoral researcher applications from individuals with various skills, whilst being enthusiastic and motivated to conduct state of the art research in chemistry.

For interested high quality candidates, we can provide support in forming a competitive application for various fellowships (more information) including:

Future postdoctoral researcher positions will be advertised when available.

Other Opportunities

If you are an undergraduate at the University of Bristol and are interested in what we do, then Michael would be more than happy to arrange an informal chat. Opportunites such as undergraduate summer research placements may be available (RSC Bursaries). For external students and potential collaborators wishing to visit the group then you are also encourage to get in contact to organise a zoom meeting (RSC Grants):
